Hi guys! I’m back with blogging. This is a super back dated post but just for sharing purpose, i’ll still share my experience and thoughts on it. Assignments #03 & 05 will be on feng shui.

According to dictionary.com, feng shui is the Chinese art or practice of creating harmonious surroundings that enhance the balance of yin and yang, as in arranging furniture or determining the siting of a house.

According to wikipedia’s explanation, is an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics believed to utilize the laws of both Heaven (astronomy) and Earth (geography) to help one improve life by receiving positive qi.

to my understanding of Feng Shui, a large part also comes from the individual. you can make a place the best possible place to reside in but if you are a terrible person who goes around building bad karma. naturally, you will go through a lot of bad experiences. Feng Shui can be applied and takes best effects with a person’s proper cultivation. quoting from shifu again “福人居福地 i guess that very much explains why a lot of people has bad residential area or can’t get a good residential place.

This assignment isn’t as exciting as the rest. its just a clear case of poor positioning but as usual, people will push the blame to the spirits saying that they’ve caused some issues. talking about some basics of feng shui, one of the key aspects is neatness or cleanliness. if the place you are staying in is cluttered and dirty, the first signs of bad luck and discomfort will appear. you will fall sick because of hygiene issues, you’ll feel frustrated because of the mess you are in. this has got nothing to do with ghosts or spirits. this house is very poorly positioned (from the explanation of shifu, i understand the general theory behind the poor positioning but don’t know how to explain), plus its untidy, dirty and it feels sleazy. from all these, i’d just like to share 2 things. firstly, to all my 师兄弟姐妹, as practioners of ling, as cultivators, we ourselves are a walking testimony. so i urge all of you to spend sometime this long weekend to clean up your house and pack so you have a better environment to cultivate. especially as a “caretaker” of our meditation centre. i strongly encourage each of you to play an active role in making the centre a better place for meditation. some of you treat the place as a public place so you do not care much for it. you leave your bottles around, you dirty the place and you just leave after clocking your attendance. seriously, i am not disgruntled about keeping the place neat and tidy, in fact i’m not angry but i feel sorry for those with such an attitude. if you do not know, there are people in the centre who doesn’t have a nice room to meditate. keeping the place in tip top condition is not for your own comfort but we as cultivators should always spare a thought for others. imagine a person with a difficult environment to cultivate and on classes still have to come to another hell. how is he/she going to feel? though shifu always say the best 道场 is your heart, but learning to appreciate and cherish what you already have is also important. with all these said, i’d also like to thank shifu, da jie, wer wer and all those who has helped in sweeping, mopping and cleaning the place. do not take this lightly my dear friends. how you treat this might just be how you treat your own hearts! have you left it in a mess? unkempt and untidy, full of rubbish yet to clear. spend some time to think through. =)

secondly, i’m very touched by shifu’s act in “preaching” and sharing the truth to people no matter what condition they are in. be it in a harsh or soft spoken manner, he never fails to share during his sessions for people to turn their hearts and counsel them to give up their wrong ways. what i want to share with all of you is that all of you are really a walking testimony. all your acts speak the best of you as a cultivator and when your tests arrive, it clearly shows whether all your acts are truthful or fake. if you are a smoker and you ask another smoker to quit, what will the other smoker think? if you are a smoker, you quit and you asked another smoker to quit, it comes so much stronger. many of you have always remarked, i want to help this person, i want to help that person, some want to start practising 法, everyone has something to chase, power, pride, fame or FEEL GOOD or for GOOD LUCK, or to clear karma or to heal their own illness. then i shall just say, keep chasing, and keep falling deeper. if shifu’s kind words or harsh scoldings can’t wake us up, then fall and bleed. you will learn better. all these that i mentioned, good luck, clearing karma, being blessed enough to practise 法 and even 神通 are all things that come along from cultivation. they should not be your purpose of cultivation, they are products or fruits that come from your cultivation. i picked up this theory when shifu was sharing with the owner and her son. every single thing he went through and overcame in his journey as a cultivator is used as a tool to aid him in helping others.

dear readers, brothers and sisters, is your heart like the House at Joo Chiat. Is it messy, is it unkempt, does it feel dirty and sleazy? is it filled with grievances and unjust? take some time to clear it. make a good feng shui for your heart so your soul can reside in you! i’ll be reciting 21 times 白字明咒 to 惨悔, for not taking good care of my heart, my body, for making my “feng shui” for my body not good enough for my soul to cultivate and reside in.

hope my humble thoughts can once again stir your hearts to work hard together with me! please feel free to share your thoughts or comment. all are welcomed! =)

cheers!

BFG
